Your family has been under a lot of stress lately. You can’t seem to stay on top of all the new changes in your family’s life.

Your children are going through their unique challenges, such as entering adolescence, starting a new school, or struggling with self-esteem or friendships.

Why Us?

As a team of qualified trauma and attachment-focused therapists, we bring a relational, holistic lens to family therapy.

We consider the unique history of each family member, including how generational patterns and trauma may be showing up in your family today.

With backgrounds in play therapy and child development, we can help families with small children as skillfully as adults.

Ultimately, we help your family learn new ways of relating to each other, so everyone can feel heard and respected with their needs met in healthier ways.

We’ll help your family navigate big changes with compassion and care.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Family therapy sessions vary based on family composition, therapeutic goals, and current struggles. After we hear your goals, we will discuss which family members may be involved, and in what order that may need to occur. We take the time to understand each family member’s perspective of the problem and current family struggles. Once we have an understanding, we will determine the best approach to help with the most pressing issues. If not all family members can be present or want to participate, we can explore ways to use family therapy to strengthen or improve the relationships with those who are able or willing to attend.

  • If you want a child aged 13 or under to participate in family therapy, all parents or legal guardians will need to provide consent. This law is nuanced in Pennsylvania, so please call if you have any questions or need further clarification.

  • Every family member is impacted by everyone else. Our goal is to not place blame but to understand how family member impacts each other and how we can shift these patterns. Parents and caregivers, often the leaders of the family, have the greatest ability and influence to shift familial patterns. Your therapist will empower you to lead your family, supporting you in skillfully responding to challenges and shifting dynamics. Your therapist will compassionately acknowledge that parenting is the hardest job in the world and affirm you’re doing the best you can, especially given your own context and history.

  • Family therapy can provide some unique considerations when it comes to superbills and insurance reimbursement. To provide a superbill, one member would have to be considered the ‘identified client’ and receive a mental health diagnosis. Family therapy would have to be considered clinically indicated in service of the diagnosis for your superbill to more likely be reimbursed. We’re happy to explain more of the requirements for superbills for family therapy upon your intake call.

  • The first step is to schedule your free consultation call. On this call, we’ll answer any questions you have about family therapy and discuss if it’s the right fit. If we believe we are a great option for you and your family, we’ll schedule your first appointment and get started. We can’t wait to speak with you!
